These Books Will Teach Your Child Confidence

Hi Mamas!

What better gift can you give your children every day than to remind them that they are brave, beautiful, and perfect – just the way they are. That they are loved beyond words, and that they can always, always, always turn to you.

The books Dear Girl and Dear Boy by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Paris Rosenthal can do exactly that! These are absolutely wonderful books to have on your bookshelf and make the most PERFECT gift for their birthday or any day!

I read Dear Girl to my five-year-old daughter Rose at LEAST once a month. And especially whenever I start to see her showing a lack of confidence about herself or feel like we just need a little extra boost of connection.

Here are a few of my favorite lines from the book Dear Girl

Dear Girl, keep that arm raised! You have smart things to say!

Dear Girl, there are no rules about what to wear, or how to cut your hair.

Dear Girl, listen to your brave side.

Dear Girl, whenever you need an encouraging boost remember, you can turn to any page in this book.

Most of all, dear girl who I love, know that you can always, always, always…

Turn to me.

I’m not crying – you’re crying! 🙂 I’m not going to lie, that last line gets me every, single, time. I get these flashes of Rose being sixteen-years-old and really needing to talk. Or, gently reminding her how much I love her when she’s going through rough times ahead.

Dear Boy is equally as touching and sweet.

Here’s a small excerpt:

Dear Boy, it’s okay if you don’t run the fastest. Just be the boy who gives it his all.

Dear Boy, make friends with girls. Believe it or not, girls are pretty awesome.

Dear Boy, know when to get dirty and when to clean up.

Dear Boy, whenever you need an encouraging boost remember, you can turn to any page in this book.

Most of all, dear boy who I love, know that you can always, always, always…

Turn to me.

(sniffle) EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
